Regarding men’s share in the market, personal care for men is expected to amount to $166 billion by 2021, while the perfume market should be looking at a $52.4 billion market value come 2025.

With these high and steady increases in market value and hundreds of new brands coming up every day, it is no wonder the cosmetics and beauty industry is one of the strongest around.These numbers prove how much people value beauty and aesthetics and how it helps contribute to self-love and confidence.

The same industry also gave birth to salon professionals, hairstylists, and makeup artists, among others. Some enthusiasts showcase their work of art and masterpieces online or on social media platforms. Those looking to make a profession out of their talents can hone them at reputable beauty institutions. Certification and recommendation can help boost the chances of getting hired in this competitive field.

Makeup Artist

If you have always admired makeup artists and their work and have also dabbled at putting on certain makeup looks, a career as a makeup artist can be great for you. There are various kinds of makeup artists-those who work at salons, those who work with actors in films or TV shows, special effects makeup artists, and many more. The training and experience you will need to be a professional will depend on the profession you would like to pursue. There are hundreds with the same profession in virtually any given city, making it a very competitive position.

To succeed in this profession, creativity is crucial. It is also essential to be knowledgeable in skin care as you will be working with various clients and different skin types. A professional should know which products to use depending on the skin type, especially those with sensitive skin.Makeup artists are in demand these days due to the rise of new brands and products and social media. They typically make around $32,000 annually.

Beauty Writer

Those who are passionate about beauty and writing can land a job as a beauty writer. You can work for magazines or brands or even start your own social media channels. Beauty writers often write product reviews, top products and brands, and articles on beauty regimens. This job can have really nice perks, as brands may send you products to try for a review or as a gift or token. You also get to try new products in the market (even those yet to be released) and meet and greet top industry professionals at interviews and events.

Beauty is not just about makeup. It is about the whole package, as they say. Celebrities often hire image consultants to help them create their own unique image or style or maintain it. This means they are responsible for their client’s makeup, hairstyle, and wardrobe.

An image consultant will often suggest how their client should smile, wave, among other gestures. This makes the image “whole” and gives the client a positive persona.Image consultants make about $32,500 annually.

The beauty and cosmetics industry is huge and multi-faceted that virtually anyone with an interest and the right skills can be a part of it. This can range from cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists to product developers and testers, hairstylists, and more. There will be professions that require a college degree, those that will require a certificate, and those that do not.
