The Warning Signs Of Cocaine Addiction

July 16, 2020 by Jarred

Cocaine is a drug that can be found throughout the world, even though it is only grown in South America, and there have been reports that one in ten people who have never used the drug will have traces of it on their fingertips. The main reason for this is that people use banknotes to snort the drug through their nose, and it is estimated that all UK banknotes are contaminated with traces of cocaine.

If you are worried about someone in your life and think that they may be abusing cocaine, below are some of the symptoms and warning signs to look for in your loved ones.

Signs Of Using Cocaine

If you know what to look for, there are many warning signs that someone may be using cocaine. These signs can include any of the following, or all:

  • Dilated Pupils
  • Constant Sniffling
  • Paranoia
  • Mood Swings
  • Depression
  • Irritability
  • Loss Of Appetite

There are also other warning signs to look out for such as a white powder around the nostrils, frequent trips to the bathroom when you are out with them, needle marks in the body, or even financial problems even if they have a well-paying job.

The Physical Affects Of Cocaine Abuse

There can be many different effects on a user when they abuse cocaine regularly, and these can sometimes have long-lasting consequences. With the repeated snorting of cocaine, you can lose your sense of smell, suffer nosebleeds, problems with the septum, including it becoming deviated. If you smoke cocaine, then you can suffer from increased problems with asthma and damage to the lungs. For intravenous users that share their needles, they also run the gauntlet of potentially contracting diseases such as hepatitis and HIV.

How To Approach Cocaine Addiction

If you have noticed any of the above in a loved one or friend, then they may be suffering from addiction to cocaine, and you should do your utmost to help them. The addict must want to get help themselves, as, without this mindset, they will most likely fall off the wagon and start using again. Seeking professional treatment is vital, and it is often beneficial in removing the sick person from their usual surroundings and even seeking help abroad.

When looking for cocaine addiction help Thailand rehabilitation centres offer, the country has an excellent record in helping sufferers turn their lives around for the better, and helping patients and their families cope with this potentially destructive addiction. As such, you may wish to look at one of the many excellent centres for rehabilitation that are available throughout the country.

Recovering From Addiction Is A Long Journey

It is vital to keep in mind that once a person is an addict, they are always an addict, although that does not mean they will use the drug for the rest of their lives. They will always have a monkey on their back with any addiction, and to get the best results for a recovering addict, they must make a change in their lives to remove temptation. It can often mean not seeing friends and associates that use cocaine to reduce the risk of relapse and ensure that they remain on the road to recovery.
